Happy Birthday, Antonio Banderas, Today, August 10, You Are 52 Years Old

Birthday Happy birthday, Antonio Banderas!

Antonio Banderas – with your devilishly sexy accent, and fantastic acting chops, you’ve been stealing hearts in movies since the 80′s! Congrats on your birthday, Zorro!

Happy birthday, Antonio Banderas! Since you and your wife Melanie Griffith are both Leos, you two may have to wrestle over who enjoys the spotlight most. Luckily, your Aries Moon likes a good challenge! The risky world of film may not rev your Leonine ambition as much as businesses in which you have a direct stake, such as your winery in Spain. And with Pluto approaching the CEO of the skies, Saturn, you’re no coward when it comes to steering your company toward profitability. Just remember to keep sounding like Shrek’s saucy kitty for our own enjoyment!

Kristen Stewart: Why I Admitted To Loving Robert Pattinson

Kristen reveals that she doesn’t like to be fake, so she finally admitted to loving Robert Pattinson after news of her affair broke. But was it too late? Read on for all the details!

Kristen Stewart cheated on Robert Pattinson with her director Rupert Sanders — and finally admitted to the world her love for Rob while simultaneously apologizing for her “momentary indiscretion.”

Kristen admitted to Entertainment Weekly that she knows actors who are able to put on a public persona, but the actress isn’t one of them. It was this realization that allegedly pushed her to admit her love for Rob — to the world!

“I don’t like people like that,” Kristen told Entertainment Weekly at San Diego’s Comic-Con in mid-July.

“People who are a complete non-person but somehow through the lens seem like they are on and interesting and engaged. … I don’t want anyone leaving and saying, ‘God, that girl is so fake.’” Kristen added.

“People tell me to make it easier on myself and to play a character when I go out on carpets and stuff. But you know what? I’d rather be me.” Kristen finally took her own advice in being her own person — ultimately revealing that she loves Rob — but was it too little, too late?

Charlie Sheen ‘genuinely interested’ in ‘Idol’ gig

Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) — Could Charlie Sheen be a judge on “American Idol”? The actor says he’s game.

In an interview Tuesday on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show, Sheen said “Idol” producer Nigel Lythgoe publicly threw his name out there as a possible judge and the idea piqued people’s interest — including his own.

“It seems so out of the blue that it almost made perfect sense. I thought this could be a lot of fun,” he said. “Seriously … I’m genuinely interested. It’s so different, it could be radical.”

Sheen also told Jay Leno Monday night on “The Tonight Show” that his two demands would be that FX and his “Anger Management” team “would have to be into it” and there would need to be a charitable component to him taking the job.

He may not have music experience, but neither did Ellen DeGeneres before she was named a judge for season 9. She left the show after just one season.

Last week, both Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler announced they would not be returning for the show’s 12th season.

Other names that have been kicked around as possible replacements include Mariah Carey and former “Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert.

Halle Berry taken to hospital after film accident

Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Halle Berry suffered a minor head injury during a movie-shoot fight sequence and was treated at a Los Angeles hospital and released.

Berry’s Los Angeles publicist Meredith O’Sullivan said the 45-year-old actress suffered the injury Tuesday night on the set of her upcoming movie “The Hive.” Berry was taken to a hospital as a precaution and released a short time later.

O’Sullivan said the Oscar-winning actress will continue work on the film.

Celebrity website x17online.com (http://bit.ly/MHSFeL ) and TMZ.com were first to report the news, saying Berry was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at about 10 p.m. O’Sullivan wouldn’t confirm the name of the hospital.

Calls and emails seeking comment from Troika Pictures and WWE Studios, which are producing “The Hive,” were not immediately returned.

“The Hive” is a thriller co-starring Abigail Breslin and David Otunga. According to the film database IMDB.com, the plot involves an emergency operator who must confront a killer from her past to save a young girl’s life.

Nelson Mandela: A Force for Freedom

By Christina Scott.

Recommended Age: 21+

Publisher’s Note:

The name Nelson Mandela is synonymous with freedom and moral integrity. He is the living symbol of the triumphant struggle to replace South Africa’s apartheid regime with a multiracial democracy. Fully illustrated, this biography chronicles the remarkable life of Nelson Mandela, from his days as student activist and guerrilla leader to his 27 years in prison to his position as an iconic elder statesman beloved the world over.

Overall Review:

This book would make a nice gift for a Nelson Mandela fan.  It contains many pictures of Mandela, his family, and South Africa.  Some depict the protests and the suffering experienced during the long years of apartheid in South Africa.  Some show that everyday life continues even in troubled times and others celebrate the accomplishments of Nelson Mandela.

For me, who knew next to nothing about Mandela when I opened the cover, the writing was a bit confusing.  The author consistently referred vaguely to future events, so much so that if you didn’t already know what would happen in the future, it was hard to grasp the significance being assigned to the person or event currently being discussed.  There was even one instance where the main body of writing and the photo caption on the same page contradicted each other and I had to use the internet to sort out what really happened.

I would say if you already know a lot about Mandela and are more interested in the photos, you would enjoy this book.  If you are looking to begin learning about the life of this interesting man, you may want to look elsewhere.

Content Analysis:

Violence/Gore:  A few reports of bombings with and without casualties; there are several instances where violence erupts during protests being made, in some of these instances many people are killed but the events are not graphically depicted; a couple instances where beatings occur during interrogations, but not detail specific;  assassinations of political activists are reported without detail; one detailed scene of a shooting; one large black and white photo of several bodies lying on the ground after policemen opened fired on a crowd of protesters.

Sex/Nudity:  A prisoner is forced to strip naked in front of guards, no detail given; two sexual references.

Mature Subject Matter:

War; death of family members; racial oppression; homelessness; HIV/AIDs.
