Samsung unveils dual-sim Galaxy Ace Duos with GSM radios

The world-wide edition of the Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos is now official.
It’s been a while since we saw the dual-mode version of the phone get announced for India. Now we finally have the two-SIM-slot variety intended for for international GSM markets.

Specs-wise, the Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos is no surprise. There’s a 3.5” HVGA (320x480px) LCD screen, 5MP camera with VGA video recording, 832MHz processor, 512MB RAM and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The user-available on-board storage space is supposedly 3GB, but there’s a microSD slot as well. The battery on this one is mere 1,300 mAh unlike the one on the CDMA variety, which is 1650 mAh. But hey, perhaps CDMA networks strain battery consumption harder.

The good news are that at 11.5mm thickness, the new dual SIM variety of the Galaxy Ace Duos is as slim as the original Galaxy Ace and it’s less than 10g heavier.

The smartphone comes with Samsung’s proprietary ‘Dual SIM always on’ feature, which automatically forwards calls from SIM 2 to the SIM 1 when when the user is talking on SIM 1, meaning there are no calls missed calls.

The Galaxy Ace Duos will launch first in Russia this June but it will later roll out to the rest of Europe, CIS, Latin America, Southeast and Southwest Asia, Middle East, Africa, and China.

The GSM+CDMA version costs $240 in India, so we should probably expect similar pricing with the worldwide edition as well.

Mark Zuckerberg’s Wedding Already Has 500x More “Likes” Than His IPO

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg updated his status to “married” on Saturday, 19 May 2012.
Zuckerberg and 27-year-old Priscilla Chan tied the knot at a small ceremony at his Palo Alto, Calif., home, capping a busy week for the couple, according to a guest authorized to speak for the couple. The person spoke only on the condition of anonymity.
Zuckerberg took his company public in one of the most anticipated stock offerings in Wall Street history Friday. And Chan graduated from medical school at the University of California, San Francisco, on Monday, the same day Zuckerberg turned 28, the person said.
The couple met at Harvard and have been together for more than nine years, the person said.
Zuckerberg designed the ring featuring “a very simple ruby,” according to the person.
The ceremony took place in Zuckerberg’s backyard before fewer than 100 guests, including Facebook’s chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg.
The guests all thought they were coming to celebrate Chan’s graduation but were told after they arrived that the event was in fact a wedding.
“Everybody was shocked,” the guest said.
Rather than his trademark hoodie, Zuckerberg wore a suit for the ceremony, while his bride wore a traditional wedding dress.
Food was served family-style and included dishes from the couple’s favorite Palo Alto sushi restaurant. The two had been planning the marriage for months but were waiting until Chan had graduated to hold the wedding, the guest said.

The timing wasn’t tied to the IPO, since the date the company planned to go public was a “moving target,” the guest said.
Even after the IPO, Zuckerberg remains Facebook’s single largest shareholder, with 503.6 million shares. And he controls the company with 56 percent of its voting stock.
The site, which was born in a dorm room eight years ago, has grown into a worldwide network of almost a billion people.
Zuckerberg founded Facebook at Harvard in 2004.
He was selected as Time’s Person of the Year in 2010, at age 26

WHAT MUSIC WAS PLAYED AT MARK ZUCKERBERG’S WEDDING?

Mark Zuckerberg took a break from finding ways to invade people’s privacy this weekend to marry his longtime love, Priscilla Chan. We already know what music the Facebook founder likes — so what tunes did he play at his wedding?

The King of Social Networking is apparently a huge fan of the King of Pop. TMZ reports that Michael Jackson songs comprised a bulk of the billionaire’s playlist.

Uptempo songs were the most played at the party, which Zuckerberg and Chan told guests was to celebrate her graduation from med school. Flo Rida, Bon Jovi and Jackson’s lil’ sis, Janet, were also featured.

Strangely, Zuckerberg’s subscriptions of Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Jay-Z and John Mayer weren’t reported to be heard from the soiree. It’s rumored that Green Day may have performed, based on a video shot through bushes — you can hear Billie Armstrong singing, but you can’t actually see anything that’s going on.

In any case, congrats to the happy couple! Here’s hoping no one tagged photos of him trying to moonwalk.

World’s Tallest Tower Rises in Tokyo

Rising like a space age Eiffel Tower on growth hormones, the newly built Tokyo Sky Tree won’t officially open its elevator doors until May 2012.

Yet the 2,080-foot-tall (634-meter-tall) structure has already built a lofty reputation. Under construction since 2008, Japan’s latest landmark was this month certified the world’s tallest tower by Guinness World Records.

But hold on, what about Dubai’s Burj Khalifa? Completed in 2010, the giant skyscraper measures 2,723 feet (830 meters) tall.

Yes, say the records people, but the Burj Khalifa is the world’s tallest building.

Tokyo’s Sky Tree is a tower, the difference being “that less than 50 percent of the construction is usable floor space,” explained Guinness World Records spokesperson Anne-Lise Rouse.

Tens of thousands of visitors flocked to the Tokyo Skytree on Tuesday, trying to be among the first people to get a view of the Japanese capital from the world’s tallest tower.

The Skytree rises 634 meters (2,080 feet) above Tokyo. It was certified as the world’s tallest tower by Guinness World Records on November 17, according to the Skytree’s website.

Guinness lists the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, at 828 meters (2,716 feet 6 inches), as the world’s tallest building.

The distinction is that Burj Khalifa is an occupied building. The Skytree is a broadcast structure, with digital transmissions for Tokyo media beamed from it. Its towering height doubles the coverage that was previously available, as it enables signals to get past the countless other skyscrapers in the Japanese capital, according to the Skytree website.

People showing up for trips up the Skytree were beaming with pride and excitement Tuesday, according to local news reports.

Michihiko Katsuragi, 27, has watched construction of the tower since moving to the area in 2009, according to a report in the Mainichi Daily News.

“I felt like I was growing up at the same time,” he was quoted as saying.

Kazutaka Hasegawa got in line on May 16 and was the first visitor to the Skytree on Tuesday, according to the Mainichi Daily News.

“As a resident of Sumida Ward, I feel a sense of satisfaction in being the first person to ascend the tower,” Hasegawa was quoted as saying.

The Skytree has two observation decks, at 350 meters (1,148 feet) and at 450 meters (1,476 feet).

The upper deck can hold 900 people at a time and the lower deck 2,000, according to a report from the Japan Daily Press. Only 6,000 tickets to the decks will be sold daily and they are sold online through a lottery system, the report said.

The Skytree complex, which also includes a shopping area, was expected to draw about 200,000 visitors on Tuesday, according to the Daily Pres

WANANCHI WA WILAYA YA NACHINGWEA WAKATI UMEFIKA KUJILETEA MAENDELEO – DC CHONJO

MKUU wa wilaya ya Nachingwea,Mkoani Lindi,Bi Regina Chonjo amewataka wananchi wa wilaya hiyo pamoja na wadau mbalimbali wa maendeleo kumpa ushirikiano wa karibu ili aweze kusimamia kwa ukamilifu fursa zilizopo wilayani humo kwa lengo la kuwaletea wananchi maendeleo yao.

Chonjo alisema hayo wakati akizungumza na  waandishi wa habari mara baada ya kuapishwa kuwa mkuu wa wilaya hiyo katika hafla iliyofanyika katika manispaa ya Lindi kwenye ukumbi wa ofisi ya mkuu wa mkoa wa Lindi.

Mkuu huyo wa wilaya alisema hakuna sababu ya wananchi wa wilaya ya Nachingwea kuendelea kuwa masikini hasa ukizingatia fursa nyingi zilizopo katika wilaya hiyo ikiwa ardhi nzuri isiyohitaji kuwekewa mbolea za viwandani,mvua za kutosha zinazowezakustawisha mazao,misitu na kuwapo kwa madini ya aina mbalimbali ikiwemo Dhahabu na Nikel.

Alisema kuwa atatumia changamoto za mkoa huo zikiwemo za elimu,afya na kilimo kama kipaumbele chake katika kuhakikisha wananchi wanashirikishwa kwenye mipango yote ya maendeleo ili kuwawezesha kuondokana na umaskini.

”Ninayo taarifa kuwa wananchi wa wilaya yangu ni watu wanaopenda kujituma katika shughuli za kuwaletea maendeleo yao ikiwa ni pamoja na kilimo ambacho huwafanya wananchi wa wilaya jirani kutegemea mazao ya chakula kutoka Nachingwea mimi kwa hakika sitawangusha kama iivyompendeza mhe Rais na kuniona ninafaa kumsaidia”

Wananchi hao wameonyesha Jitihada kubwa baada ya Kujenga Ghorofa kwa ajili ya Mkuu wa wilaya hiyo kwa nguvu na pesa zao na kuhakikisha utawala bora unakuwepo .
